The Financial Assistance Specialist works under the Director of Client Services as a part of LCAC’s Client Services Team. This position’s focus is processing financial assistance and case management for clients.
Duties and Responsibilities:
– Assists clients with financial needs and creates a self-sufficiency case management plan with clients. This includes an intake interview to determine household needs and goals.
– Connects clients to financial literacy opportunities.
– Tracks all household financial assistance using LCAC’s client database, in tandem with the Community Outreach Coordinator.
– Assures that clients have access to clothing and furniture vouchers and coordinates with Thrift Store Co-Managers to provide these services to families.
– Assists with administrating and distributing monetary funds in conjunction with Fairfax County
– Receives and processes referrals from Coordinated Services Planning related to Emergency Rental Assistance.
– Collects, inputs, and records necessary data for reports in a timely manner.
– Works with the Director of Client Services and other staff on Back-to-School and Holiday outreaches, including donations and distributions with other staff and volunteers.
– Participates in other client service projects and engagements as needed.
– Attends internal meetings with LCAC staff.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree highly preferred; human services field preferred.
* Bilingual highly preferred (English and Spanish)
* Able to engage clients and develop trusting relationships.
* Knowledge of basic financial literacy
* Able to use computer database to establish and maintain case records and to facilitate data collection.
* Able to maintain professional ethics and confidentiality of client information
* Maintain compassion, sensitivity, warmth, and freedom from prejudice for those who seek assistance at LCAC.
The salary range is $49,000-$51,000. LCAC offers an excellent compensation package, including paid health care, vacation, and sick leave.
