Job Title: Director of Development Supervisor/Reports to: Executive Director Average Hours/Week: Full-time
Position Description: The Director of Development is responsible for coordinating and implementing all fund development efforts to support the organization’s mission, including special events and appeals; as well as working to ensure ongoing and strategic communication with donors, volunteers, community stakeholders and the media.
Role and Responsibilities:
Special Events Coordination:
-Manage all aspects of annual spring Gala fundraiser, including planning, promotion, logistics, print materials, budget, donations (in-kind and monetary), Committee volunteers, and solicitation support for Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Gala Co-Chairs. Facilitate event planning meetings and activities.
-Manage all aspects of other fundraising events, including Fall for LCAC, Wine Tasting, and other events as scheduled.
-Work to ensure event publicity (pre and post-event) through print, online, and social media and to ensure event management through Constant Contact.
-Work closely with Director of Volunteers on recruitment of volunteers for events.
Individual Giving:
-Manage GiftWorks, the donor database, to ensure accuracy and consistency. Work closely with Executive Director on data. Manage volunteers who assist with data entry. Generate reports as requested.
-Manage direct mail (currently three appeals) and email campaigns, including drafting appeal letters and emails, and printing/distribution.
-Manage the gift management process, including gift data entry, gift acknowledgment, recognition, stewardship, and reporting processes.
-Work collaboratively with the Executive Director to implement strategic communications via email, social media, media outlets, and direct mail.
-Foster volunteer engagement and donor cultivation.
-Manage LCAC’s participation in America’s Charities, the Combined Federal Campaign, and other workplace giving campaigns; represent LCAC at charity fairs, as directed.
Community Outreach:
-Represent LCAC at community events, as directed.
-Prepare press releases to ensure appropriate distribution.
-Ensure that LCAC’s publicity materials are up-to-date and available for community outreach activities, events, and staff presentations.
Grant Writing:
-Work with the Executive Director to identify potential grant funders.
-Research, write, and assemble proposals for new and returning funders.
-Cultivate connections among foundation, government, and corporate giving prospects.
-Responsible for tracking potential and secured funders and grant reporting deadlines.
Planning:
-Work with the Executive Director to design, implement and evaluate all fund development efforts, including grant applications, special events, individual giving, and appeals.
-Develop a yearly plan for development activities, including events, community activities, and appeals in conjunction with the Executive Director.
-Provide input on messaging about LCAC’s mission and program impacts.
Communications:
-Prepare materials for community and outreach events, both written and illustrated materials.
-Manage e-blasts using Mailchimp, including writing, graphics, photo selection, and editing.
-Work with staff to ensure photography at events and programmatic activities and ensure that proper media permission has been secured.
-Responsible for the organization of photographs and videos.
-Manage the selection of photography and video for print and web communications; responsible for photo editing.
-Manage LCAC’s website, Facebook page, and Twitter account; coordinate with staff to keep content on both sites fresh, engaging, and accurate.
-Responsible for informational and event flyers; including the creation of flyers as well as management of volunteers that assist with graphic design.
-Maintain a production schedule for programmatic, development, thrift store, and event promotion materials.
Preferred Qualifications Include:
-Bachelor’s degree with special event and development experience, including managing donor databases, direct mail appeals, grant writing, and special event development and management.
-Proven experience with grant writing for community-based organizations.
-Superb organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
-Ability to manage multiple deadlines and tasks and balance competing priorities.
-Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
-Passionate about LCAC’s mission and programming.
-Enjoy working with people and value the role of volunteers in a nonprofit.
-Willing to step up and support fellow staff in day-to-day operations.
-Superb working knowledge of Microsoft Office, social media platforms and YouTube.
-Experience with Mailchimp.

The salary range for this position is $70,000-$80,000 commensurate with experience. LCAC offers an excellent compensation package including paid health care and vacation and sick leave.
