After serving as Executive Director of the Lorton Community Action Center for more than 10 years, Linda Patterson has resigned. During her many years of dedicated service, she helped to expand LCAC to better serve our clients and enhance the well-being of our entire community. The Board of Directors is very appreciative of all of her efforts to ensure LCAC’s future success. She will be missed, and we wish her well in her new endeavors.
The Board is now focused on the future and excited to move into the new Lorton Community Center building sometime in June.
The Board would like to thank the many people and organizations who have supported us over the years and looks forward to working with you in our new space with a new Executive Director. Together, we improve the quality of life for everyone in our community.
The Board of Directors of LCAC
The Board of Directors is excited to announce that Rob Rutland-Brown has been named LCAC’s new Executive Director, effective May 23.
Rob comes to LCAC with nearly 20 years of experience growing and leading local and national nonprofit organizations.
Since 2013, he has served as Executive Director of National Justice for Our Neighbors, connecting low-income immigrants and refugees with legal aid. Prior to that, he was Executive Director of Just Neighbors, which provides immigration legal services to low-income immigrants in Northern Virginia. He lives in Springfield with his wife and two children.
“I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to work alongside LCAC’s staff, board and volunteers to help low-income individuals and families in the community become more self-sufficient,” Rob said. “I’ve been extremely impressed with the commitment of everyone who is involved with this organization, and I’m really looking forward to being a part of this team.” Rob will provide pivotal leadership as LCAC moves into its new space in the Lorton Community Center this summer.
“Rob brings a wealth of experience serving communities in need,” LCAC Board of Director President Edwardene Pitcock said. “His background in nonprofit management, communications and fundraising will help the Lorton Community Action Center meet its mission of increasing self-sufficiency for the individuals and families we serve, as well as improving the quality of life for everyone in our community.”
The Lorton Community Action Center (LCAC) seeks to provide low-income individuals, senior citizens, and families residing in Fort Belvoir, Lorton, Newington and other portions of southeast Fairfax County with access to basic needs and the opportunity to empower themselves through LCAC’s self-sufficiency programs. LCAC strives to connect people with other programs in the area that will have a positive impact on a family’s long-term “health.”
