2024 Back 2 School!

Back to School is an exciting time in the life of a child and their parents! However, many low-income families in Southeast Fairfax County worry about purchasing school supplies. YOU, your friends, colleagues, and neighbors can help minimize the worry and ensure a confident start to the school year by donating a new backpack (supports laptop) and/or supplies.

Here is how it works:

Review the sign up lists and select the item(s) you plan to purchase.

Either bring the items to LCAC, 9520 Richmond Highway on 

Wednesday, August 7th 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Thursday, August 8th 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. 

OR 

order items online and have them shipped to LCAC

9520 Richmond Highway, Lorton VA 22079, Attn: Christen Scott

*All items need to arrive or be dropped off to LCAC by August 8th*

2024 Raise a Glass to Hope!

You are invited to raise a glass to benefit Lorton Community Action Center!

Join LCAC on Sunday, September 15, 2024
2:00-4:00 p.m. at the home of Bruce Scott

$75 per individual    $125 per couple

2024 Summer of Love & LCAC

On Sunday, July 14th LCAC held the first Summer of Love! We LOVED having volunteers of all ages join us to volunteer or donate at our pantry.

2024 LCAC Open House:

LCAC hosted an Open House on Thursday, May 16th from 4-6 pm in the Lorton Community Center.  Our staff provided rolling tours of our offices and pantry.

2024 Spring Into Action Gala:

Our annual Gala was held Saturday, April 27th at Harbour View on the Occoquan, 13200 Marina Way, Woodbridge, VA
The gala raises funds that help support LCAC programs and services throughout the year.

2024 Monopoly Tournament to Benefit LCAC: 

On Saturday, February 24, 2024, we had our annual Monopoly Tournament to benefit LCAC–a fun opportunity to be competitive for a great cause.

Players, sponsors, and donors of the Monopoly Tournament helped raise nearly $7,000 for LCAC. 
Congratulations to our grand prize winner, Michael Atlan. Other top finalists include Thais Ribeiro, James “Jim” Bibb, Wendi Pate, Akul Dixit, and Kevin O’Meara, Jr.

2023 Holiday Gift Event

Thanks to our generous donors and volunteers who helped us fill more than 800 specific gift requests for children and gift cards for our senior/disabled clients who pre-registered.

2023 Warm Coat Drive

The Warm Coat Drive on Sunday, December 3rd was a big success. Thanks to your donations we provided more than 1,000 coats and other items to LCAC clients.

Thanksgiving 2023

Thanks to all who donated to our Thanksgiving food drive!  We also distributed traditional Thanksgiving food, thanks to three local churches who prepared enough traditional boxes to cover all client families! (And thanks to all who donated $25 Food Lion Gift Cards our clients enjoyed.)

2023 LCAC Spring into Action Gala

The LCAC Spring Into Action Annual Gala is the organization’s largest fundraising event of the year! It was a great success. All proceeds supported LCAC’s mission to provide for neighbors in need.

Held Saturday, April 29th, 2023, from 6:30 – 11:00 p.m. at Harbour View on the Occoquan, more than 200 people celebrated LCAC, danced to the great Johnny Artis Tribute band, enjoyed beer donated by Bunnyman Brewing, and raised more than $200,000 to support LCAC’s programs.
