The LCAC food pantry serves individuals and families in Lorton. Registered clients are eligible to attend one of three distributions each week, where they select food and other items for their families. We distribute fruits, vegetables, bread, meat, cereal, a wide range of non-perishable food, and much more.
In this past fiscal year, clients visited our pantry 9,892 times! During each weekly visit clients receive around 30 meals worth of groceries to feed themselves and their families.
Food donations can be dropped off at the LCAC food pantry in the Lorton Community Center at 9520 Richmond Hwy in Lorton, at these times:

Tuesday: 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Thursday: 12:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Friday: 10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Tuesday: 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Wednesday: 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

This past fiscal year (July 2023 – June 2024) we received 583,733 pounds of donated food, which comes out to 1,600 pounds per day! This represents a 60% increase in donated food compared to the previous year, and it allowed us to not only serve more clients but to offer more food and greater options. Thank you!
Volunteers help our pantry run smoothly. From picking up food from our grocery partners, sorting food, putting bags together for home deliveries, and assisting with our regular distribution, they are key to our success!
Many of our neighbors volunteer when they can, and others on a regular basis. We also rely on great support from faith groups, businesses, and individuals in the form of community drives and donations for much of our pantry’s supplies!
Thanks to the many partnerships LCAC’s developed and individual donors throughout our community we are able to make our pantry a place where people can receive more than food. At the pantry we also distribute hygiene and household essentials, health resources, pet food, diapers, period products, prenatal vitamins, and more when available.
Once clients check into our pantry, they have various choices in their food selection. Our goal is to give clients what they need and want. “We make sure that they don’t leave with anything they don’t want,” says Joshua Henry, Director of Nutrition.
Clients are given a series of options during our distributions, choosing which products they prefer in different categories. This ensures our distributions are personalized, simple, and efficient.
