Over 4 weeks, from March 2nd to April 12th, a group of eleven women joined LCAC to participate in the 4th cohort of our Women’s Empowerment Workshop. Each weekly session focused on a different topic. Here is some feedback from our participants!
The 1st week was focused on the basics of financial literacy and led by Kimberly Eubanks from Andrews Federal Credit Union.
“I gained knowledge of how banking and financial services work, and most importantly, it gave me confidence in knowing what I wanted in my budget.”
The 2nd week was led by licensed counselor Dr. Grace Hipona and emphasized the importance of well-being and mental health in our daily lives.
“The mental health workshop reminded me that it is ok for me to pause and take care of myself without feeling guilty about it.”
Week 3 was centered around gaining confidence in public speaking, led by members of the Junior League of Northern Virginia.
“The public speaking workshop got me out of my comfort zone! I am an introvert, and standing in front of the group challenged me.”
The 4th and final session of the workshop series was on expressing yourself with art and was led by Stephanie Patterson.
“The last session was my most memorable! Creating art without expectations or limitations, and expressing myself through colors was an amazing experience!”
Thank you to the women who participated in this program! We are excited to continue this program and help to inspire more women in our community.
“I learned something valuable and different from each of the workshops. Seeing other women staying strong regardless of what life throws at them was a huge motivation for me.”
