From May 5th to 19th, LCAC held weekly Job Readiness workshops in partnership with the Lorton Library. Over the three weeks, there were 14 participants: a mixture of ten LCAC clients and four non-clients. Volunteer Sheldon Hervey led the third workshop, focusing on Job Interview Skills. This followed the initial sessions on Job Searching and Resume Writing.
“Landing a job is a challenge, and facing language and cultural barriers makes the job search even more daunting. Learning interview skills builds confidence and preparedness,” Sheldon shared. “During our session, the participants were engaged and eager. We practiced interviews, did a little role playing, and even after the hour ended, they were still wanting to learn more.”
