4/23/2018 Update: Learn about the planning and design of the new Lorton Community Center at the latest Fairfax County Community Meeting on Thursday, May 3 from 7:30 PM to 9 PM. Fairfax County staff will present the project and answer questions from the community. Click here for more details.
In November 2016, Fairfax County voters approved the Human Services and Community Development Bond Referendum which provided funding for the construction the Lorton Community Center. The Lorton Community Center will provide a variety of intergenerational programming through the leadership of Neighborhood and Community Services and a variety of human services programs through the strategic partnership of Fairfax County and the Lorton Community Action Center (LCAC). LCAC will be moved (including the pantry) into the new facility.
The project is currently in the design phase. Community members, through Supervisor Storck’s Steering Committee, along with LCAC staff and a Board member, are working with county staff on this project. The facility will be located adjacent to the Lorton Community Library at 9518 Richmond Highway. It is anticipated that the project will be completed by early 2022.
As the project develops, county staff and the Steering Committee will be hosting a series of public meetings to keep residents informed on its progress and to receive feedback, comments and concerns. Meetings will be posted to the bottom of this site as dates are set. This webpage will post any additional updates as well. Want to learn more? Contact Linda Patterson, LCAC’s Executive Director.
