LCAC’s FY 2018 (July 1, 2017 – June 30, 2018) – Beyond the Financials

Here are some highlights from Fiscal Year 2018:

Distributed food to 1,870 people (unduplicated numbers)

  • Received 429,766 pounds of donated food.
  • Had 9,481 unique pantry visits.

Provided clothing to 195 individuals and furniture to 151 individuals through Lorton’s Attic, LCAC’s thrift store.

  • Lorton’s Attic, LCAC’s thrift store, accepted clothing, furniture and other goods valued at $245,151.
Provided 1,326 winter coats to families in the community and provided more than 750 other coats to area schools, UCM, New Hope Housing and Rising Hope UMC to give to other low-income individuals.

Provided gifts, toys and food to 485 households representing 1,745 people during Christmas (Dec. 2017) outreach.  

  • The value of gifts, toys and new clothing donated for Christmas (Dec. 2017) outreach was $55,232.

Empowered 58 students with improved English communication skills as a result of ESL classes.

Taught 26 heads of household how to stretch their food budget farther while still making healthy meals through the six-week Basic Nutrition Course. Provided deeper education to 29 households through our Graduate Nutrition courses.

Impacted 555 children through our after school programs at William Halley and Gunston Elementary Schools.

All this, and more, would not have been possible without the dedication of time, talent and resources by 797 volunteers donating 21,805.5 hours of their time (equal to more than 10 full-time staff members)!
