LCAC’s FY 2017 (July 1, 2016 – June 30, 2017) – Beyond the Financials

Here are some highlights from Fiscal Year 2017:

Distributed food to 1,923 people (unduplicated numbers)

  • Received 442,333 pounds of donated food.

Provided clothing to 193 individuals and furniture to 95 individuals through Lorton’s Attic, LCAC’s thrift store.

  • Lorton’s Attic, LCAC’s thrift store, accepted clothing, furniture and other goods valued at $202,447.
Provided 1,500 winter coats to families in the community and provided more than 1,000 other coats to area schools, UCM, New Hope Housing, Rising Hope UMC and ALIVE to give to other low-income individuals.

Provided gifts, toys and food to 494 households representing 1,821 people during Christmas (Dec. 2016) outreach.  

  • The value of gifts, toys and new clothing donated for Christmas (Dec. 2016) outreach was $77,160.

Empowered 52 students with improved English communication skills as a result of ESL classes.

Taught 30 heads of household how to stretch their food budget farther while still making healthy meals through the six-week Basic Nutrition Course. Provided deeper education to 24 households through our Graduate Nutrition courses.

Impacted 572 children through our after school programs at William Halley and Gunston Elementary Schools.

All this, and more, would not have been possible without the dedication of time, talent and resources by 764 volunteers donating 21,477 hours of their time (equal to more than 10 full-time staff members)!
