Tools for School - LCAC's 2013 Back to School Drive!

Back to School is an exciting time in the life of a child (and their parent(s)!) but, for many low-income families in Southeast Fairfax County – it can be extremely stressful as families worry about how they will afford the necessary school supplies. However, YOU (and your friends, colleagues, neighbors, book club, church committee – you get the idea!) can help minimize the worry and ensure a confident start to the school year for local children by donating a back-pack of grade appropriate supplies.

LCAC will be utilizing “Sign-Up Genius” so that you, or your church group, or book club may “adopt” a child or children and then use the grade specific list of school supplies (see grade supply lists below) to fill a back pack with appropriate supplies for each child (or children) that you “adopt.” When selecting back packs, please be mindful of the gender of the child. (A 4th grade boy would probably not be happy if he ended up with a pink Hello Kitty back-pack!)

Important Note: The link to “Sing-Up Genius” will be activated on or about July 8. Why? We begin signing up clients for Back to School on July 1 and it will take us a few days to get the information appropriately formatted and uploaded. When the link is live – all you will need to do is “click” and follow the directions!
In the meantime, please take a moment to read and/or download PDF’s of the grade specific supply lists to help you decide which grade level student you may wish to “adopt.”
