LCAC’s FY 2016 (July 1, 2015 – June 30, 2016) – Beyond the Financials

Here are some highlights from Fiscal Year 2016:

Distributed food to 2,082 people (unduplicated numbers)

  • Received 461,834 pounds of donated food.

Provided clothing to 222 individuals and furniture to 121 individuals through Lorton’s Attic, LCAC’s thrift store.

  • Lorton’s Attic, LCAC’s thrift store, accepted clothing, furniture and other goods valued at $344,695.
Provided 1,500 winter coats to families in the community and provided more than 1,000 other coats to area schools, UCM, New Hope Housing, Rising Hope UMC and ALIVE to give to other low-income individuals.

Provided gifts, toys and food to 448 households representing 1,719 people during Christmas (Dec. 2015) outreach.  

  • The value of gifts, toys and new clothing donated for Christmas (Dec. 2014) outreach was $67,726.

Empowered 44 students (directly impacting 109 individuals in those immediate households) with improved English communication skills as a result of ESL classes.

Taught 20 heads of household how to stretch their food budget farther while still making healthy meals through the six-week Basic Nutrition Course.

Impacted 524 children through our three after school programs at William Halley, Gunston  and Laurel Hill Elementary Schools.

All this, and more, would not have been possible without the dedication of time, talent and resources by 800+ volunteers donating 21,815 hours of their time!
