Welcome to LCAC
The Lorton Community Action Center (LCAC) seeks to provide low-income individuals, senior citizens and families residing in Fort Belvoir, Lorton, Newington and other portions of southeast Fairfax County with access to basic needs and the opportunity to empower themselves through LCAC’s self-sufficiency programs. LCAC strives to connect people with other programs in the area that will have a positive impact on a family’s long-term “health.”
LCAC helps to prevent homelessness by offering emergency financial assistance for rent or mortgage, as well as utilities. The importance of keeping individuals and families in a safe, stable environment cannot be over-emphasized, since the steadiness of “a place to call home” impacts all aspects of a family’s life from employment to a child’s performance in school.
LCAC is an independent 501(c)3, nonprofit organization that partners with a wide array of religious groups, community organizations, corporations, individuals and local businesses to fulfill its mission. Volunteers play an integral role in all aspects of LCAC’s programs and services.
Warm Coat Drive
LCAC distributed over 1,000 warm coats to your neighbors in 2015. We will need even MORE coats for our Outreach on Sunday, Dec. 4! Click here to see how you can help keep your neighbors in need warm this winter.
LCAC's Holiday Outreach is approaching fast. Click here to see how you adopt a child or teen this holiday season or donate a holiday food basket!
We are stunned by the support that was shown for LCAC on #GivingTuesday. Our goal to raise $2000 in 24 hours was absolutely shattered with almost $6500 raised for the children, seniors and families served by LCAC. Thank you so much to our wonderful supporters for helping us to kick this season of giving off right!
The pantry is in need of breakfast cereal (non-sweetened), canned fruit (no pineapple), and rice. Donations can be dropped off Mondays, Wednesdays - Fridays from 8am to 4pm, and Tuesdays from 11am to 7pm. To learn more about how to donate to our food pantry, click here.
